LeadingAge Iowa is a statewide membership organization of non-profit providers of aging services and supports and the champion for advancement and innovation in aging services. Our mission is to be the voice, support and connector for non-profit members and the people they serve. Our membership is diverse, representing the spectrum of non-profit long-term support and service providers including skilled nursing, assisted and independent living, PACE, home health, adult day, respite, hospice and home delivered meals.  Our members serve over 25,000 older adults in Iowa each day.

CMS Releases QSO Memo Requiring Enhanced Barrier Precautions

On March 20, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released QSO-24-08-NH on Enhanced Barrier Precautions (EBP) in Nursing Homes. In July 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated EBP recommendations for Implementation of PPE Use in Nursing Homes to Prevent Spread of MDROs which encouraged nursing homes to establish EBP, however, it has not been required. Effective April 1, 2024, CMS will include processes for surveying nursing home compliance with CDC’s recommendations for EBP.

Deadline Approaching for Life Plan Community & Nursing Home Salary & Benefit Surveys

LeadingAge Partner Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS) is conducting their annual Life Plan Community (LPC)/CCRC Salary & Benefits study, and LeadingAge Members are encouraged to participate Providers are asked to complete the LPC study’s questionnaire by April 8, 2024. The CCRC Report will be published in June 2024. Note that due to changes in antitrust guidance, LAI will no longer conduct an Iowa-based wage survey, so members are strongly encouraged to participate in the HCS Life Plan Community and/or the Nursing Home study.
