WesleyLife Announces Key Leadership Hires

WesleyLife, Iowa’s most comprehensive provider of services for older adults, has announced the addition to its leadership team of two individuals, Glen Lewis joins as the Executive Director of Edgewater and Shannon Minshall joins as the Executive Director of Park Centre. 

Glen Lewis joins WesleyLife as Executive Director of Edgewater, the organization’s community in West Des Moines. Lewis brings to WesleyLife a wealth of experience in hospitality as well as senior living, having served most recently as an executive director with Aegis Living in Portland, Oregon. Prior to that position, Lewis was general manager for various hotels throughout the Midwest.  He attended the University of Pittsburgh and Southern New Hampshire University, and is passionate about creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities. 

 

Shannon Minshall joins WesleyLife as Executive Director of Park Centre, the organization’s community in Newton. Most recently, Minshall served at Pacifica Health Services LLC / VIA Health Services in Carlisle where he oversaw day-to-day operations for senior living communities in Carlisle and Des Moines. Prior to his time with Pacifica, Minshall was employed by Lifespace Communities as Director of Health Services for Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and social work from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.

 

WesleyLife & Genesis Health System Announce New Partnership in Eastern Iowa

The boards of directors of WesleyLife and Genesis Health System of Davenport have announced that they will partner to create a new entity that will serve older adults in the Quad Cities of eastern Iowa and western Illinois. The relationship will create an opportunity for the joined organizations to serve senior markets in both states through a comprehensive health and wellness network.  

The new venture’s initial plans are as follows:

  • Within the next several weeks, they will be identifying and announcing the partnership’s new name.
  • They are in the pre-development phase for establishing a new senior living community in the Bettendorf area; and will also, then, be looking to the Moline, Illinois, area to establish a new community as well.
  • They will also look through the lens reinvention of the senior living experience, and identify the physical changes, expansions, or new developments we will make to the Illini Restorative Care, Crosstown Square apartments, and West Wing Place campuses. 

“As a broader-reaching organization, we will be better positioned to meet the needs of a growing, thriving population whose expectations are changing,” Rob Kretzinger, WesleyLife CEO, said. “This affiliation allows us to create a model by which hospital systems and senior living organizations align efforts to better impact the health and well-being of this population. We’re looking forward to serving a greater number of older adults in a more meaningful and efficient way.”

Northcrest Community’s Groundbreaking 

Groundbreaking for Northcrest Community's expansion project was held November 28, 2018. Northcrest has been serving older adults since 1965 and is excited be able to provide services to even more people with this expansion.  Included in the project will be 48 new Independent Living apartments complete with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, gas fireplaces, individual 4-season rooms, underground parking and exercise room on the 4th floor, 32 Assisted Living apartments and new Health Center.  In addition, renovation of the main building will include administrative offices and provide for an expanded Wellness Center.  A new multi-purpose room, private dining room and casual dining venue will provide additional options for residents, their families and guests. Project completion is expected in 2020.
