Breakout Session 301: Hot Topics in Human Resources
There have been a lot of changes to both state and federal labor laws impacting workers, and employers should be aware of those changes to ensure compliance and avoid lawsuits or other penalties. This session will break down the latest legal developments in HR, including changes to Iowa’s child labor laws, the status of the proposed federal non-compete ban, increased protections for pregnant and nursing workers, decisions issued by the National Labor Relations Board and its General Counsel, and more.
- Identify changes to Iowa’s child labor law and how those changes impact long-term care providers.
- Review Federal laws and proposed rules regarding non-compete agreements.
- Examine the National Labor Relations’ Boards opinions and what that means for both union and non-union employers.
- Identify expanded protections for pregnant and nursing workers.
- Review any important employment-related decisions by Iowa courts.
- Discuss recent “trends” in employment litigation in Iowa.
