As a provider member of LeadingAge Iowa, you will gain these advantages:

Advocacy. LeadingAge and LeadingAge Iowa (LAI) provide a strong and distinct voice for Iowa not-for-profit aging services, fighting on Capitol Hill and at the Iowa Statehouse to remove barriers to care, develop new services, and improve reimbursement to make our state a better place to grow older.

Professional Development.  LeadingAge Iowa offers a full array of valuable educational opportunities including a Spring and Fall conference, a Nurse Leadership Symposium, Quality and QAPI workshops, webinars and on-demand education, DON support and training, alternative payment models and reimbursement education, the Leadership Academy, LAI’s year-long leadership program providing up-and-coming leaders to take them to the next level and much, much more.

Iowa Aging Services Network (IASN), a statewide provider network.  IASN is a L.L.C., created by and open only to LeadingAge Iowa members, to leverage the collective strength of members to drive quality improvement and contract with managed care plans and commercial insurers.  IASN also serves as a resource and intermediary on payment issues with payers and handles the credentialing process with insurers for each of the contracted plans.

Quality Improvement. LAI offers services to help providers continually improve quality, a necessity to excel in today’s health care environment. Services include quality tools and resources, data benchmarking, targeted webinars, and nurse consulting services including monthly consulting and mentoring, targeted engagements, audits, and mock surveys.

Information.  Members have access to a number of publications to ensure that they are up-to-date on timely professional information.  Publications include the Communiqué, LAI’s bi-weekly newsletter; Survey Trends, a newsletter detailing survey trends for nursing facilities, assisted living programs and residential care facilities; Public Policy Update, a bi-weekly newsletter detailing key advocacy issues during the legislative session; and the LeadingAge monthly magazine and weekly newsletter, among others. 

Policy Templates and Resources.  LAI offers many tools and templates exclusively for members to help them understand and comply with new regulations like the Nursing Home Requirements of Participation (RoPs).

Business Intelligence.  Members have access to a collection of online tools to help members better understand their own performance and their market position. Tools available include an Iowa Medicaid Cost Report Analyzer, 5-Star Analysis Report, Quality Metrics, Ask the MDS Expert, Medicare Market Positioning Reports, and more.

Networking.  LAI members are very collaborative and willing to connect and learn from one another.  Members network through a variety of media including more than 35 state and national Listservs based on topic areas, at quarterly networking meetings, during professional development events and conferences, or informally through the relationships forged through association activities. 

Technical Assistance and Business Tools.  Members have access to technical assistance from LeadingAge and LAI on a variety of matters including MDS Compliance, tax-exemption issues, HUD, survey and certification issues, governance and board development, among others.  Additionally, members can access organizational resources, a framework of references to stimulate essential strategic discussion among your leadership team and board of directors and help your organization operate successfully. 

Not-For-Profit Voice.  LeadingAge and LAI are committed to helping members strengthen their governance practices to affirm public confidence in our missions and help members preserve their tax-exempt status and tax-deductible contribution benefit for donors.

Innovation for the Future.  LeadingAge has four Centers for innovation and research to shape the future of aging.  Members can participate, receive the latest news and research, and access planning and selection tools from the Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST), the Center for Aging Services Workforce, the Center for Applied Research, and the Center for Housing Plus Services.  

Member Savings Program. LAI offers members a variety of programs and discounts to help save members money on products and services important in providing long term supports and services.

Aging Services Directory. This tool allows consumers to search for LeadingAge members by specific services, directly connecting consumers to the services members provide.

Your LeadingAge Iowa membership also includes membership in the national Association LeadingAge.

This means that for your combined dues payment sent to LeadingAge Iowa, you receive the benefits and services of both associations. We also offer a discounted dues incentive for first time members.
