This event will explore the rise of opioid use among seniors, providing the latest data, strategies for preparedness, and a discussion of barriers and challenges, led by expert Liddy Garcia-Bunuel.

Suicide Prevention and Screening for Substance Misuse in the Elderly (virtual)
October 17 at 1 p.m.
This webinar addresses the high prevalence of suicide, ideation, and self-harm among older adults, emphasizing the primary risk factors such as mental illness, social isolation, and substance use disorders. It highlights the importance of screening, risk assessment, and timely intervention during life transitions like moving to assisted living, providing clinicians with tools to help preserve life.



LTC Life Safety Code and Emergency Preparedness Regulatory Review (virtual)
October 23 at 1 p.m.
This virtual education event will help nursing home environmental managers and administrators understand Life Safety Code (LSC) and Emergency Preparedness regulations, which are crucial for maintaining high 5-star quality ratings and avoiding enforcement actions. Medication Manager Certification Course
This On-Demand course meets the Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing (DIAL) requirements for medication administration in assisted living, adult day and elder group homes, which were effective March 1, 2021.  Registrants will experience a research-based course with video demonstrations, interactive activities, and quizzes to ensure comprehension.  The online, on-demand course has been designed to be mobile and tablet friendly, allowing registrants to take the course from any location with internet access.
